Serious Escalation: Chadian Airstrikes and Sudan Warns of Retaliation!

Sudanese Military Reports Chadian Airstrikes and Daily Reconnaissance Flights

The Sudanese Military Capabilities Platform has independently recorded three Chadian aerial attacks and six daily reconnaissance flights. Detailed reports, including wreckage from the attacks, have been published alongside observations by the Sudanese Armed Forces.

The attacks on Sudanese territory are confirmed. The sharp criticism from the Deputy Commander-in-Chief against what is referred to as “Chad” comes at a time when international law allows both verbal and material responses. A passive stance only emboldens further aggression.

Article 51 of the UN Charter grants member states the right to self-defense, both individually and collectively, in the event of an armed attack, with the UN Security Council responsible for maintaining peace and security. This means that international law allows even an individual Sudanese citizen to seek retribution for their country, let alone a military leader or the state itself.

UN Security Council resolutions affirm the right of nations to defend themselves against aerial aggression. Additionally, customary international law recognizes the principle of proportional retaliation in cases of armed attacks, as long as the response is proportionate to the threat.

Islam itself grants Sudanese people the right to defend their country in the same manner they were attacked. No international, customary, religious, or moral law restricts the desire to retaliate against aggression. Wreckage from the attacks is available for any media outlet willing to inform both the local and international communities to confirm the aggression and prevent any outcry in the event of retaliation.

The size of Sudan as a nation and the dignity of its people and land compel any Sudanese leader to respond to Chad’s aggression. A verbal warning serves as a cautionary message to the wise.
